  • What words would your customers use to search for your products / services online? They many not necessarily be using industry jargon you may use!
  • Which are the competitors you want to compete with online? Know who they are, how their sites work and what you like or dislike about their sites.
  • What offline marketing initiatives will you be employing over the next 12 months? Anything you do online should be in tandem with any offline promotion.
  • Is your market seasonal? How could this effect any promotions you do online?
  • What are the areas / products / services on your site you particularly want to promote?
  • Do you have proper tracking of the activity on your site set up? Without it how will you know how well you are doing?
  • Do you have the resources available to make changes to your website to gain the positioning you need? A full search marketing campaign may require redesign elements, new content, video, audio etc – are you prepared for that to make it work?
